We're always looking for new fiction to consider. We read throughout the year for the monthly Tales of the Decongested event and Decongested Tales magazine.
A few thoughts...
We love and seek energetic writing. We want you to tell us a story. A great one. One you have brought to life, one you love. A story that you will be proud to read aloud in a room full of strangers, or to see in print with your name attached. A story that you want and need to share.
Excite us: make us laugh, smile, identify, shed a tear. Tell us a story that makes us forget where we are.
More than anything we are looking for great writing and in that vein we don’t hold a bias to any particular genre. So submit, please - and submit your best.
Stories can be about characters of any race, creed, gender, or sexual orientation. Just amaze us. That's all.
By submitting your story...
...you guarantee that it is your own original work, you hold the copyright and that it does not infringe on existing copyright material.
Submitting to Tales of the Decongested events...
Please send us stories of any genre up to 3,000 words. We will accept stories up to this length, but please remember you will be reading it to an audience. You need to keep the listeners engaged. Shorter is often better.
If we invite you to read at an event, we'll also ask to print your story in that edition of Decongested Tales. You'll receive a contributor's copy at the event.
We try to respond quickly, but please allow up to four weeks before chasing! You will usually hear from us much sooner.
Send all submissions to decongested[DOT]tales[AT]gmail[DOT]com along with a short (50 words or less) third person biography, your current city/country of residence plus confirmation that you're able to come and read your work in person at one of our London events.
(Seriously, this last bit is important! We'd love to be able to ship you from New York, Adis Ababa or Timbuktoo, but we can't. We're first and foremost a live fiction event, so if you're just interested in getting your work printed you're best off subbing elsewhere!)
And don't forget to track your submission (and our response) on Duotrope's Digest - www.duotrope.com/market_4127.aspx
